Follow-up Comment #2, bug #13970 (project wesnoth):

Can you reopen this? Only part of the problem is fixed. A couple of lines
later in the dialog Kapou'e (second_unit) is still talking to himself
(Kapou'e). One possible fix would be to replace speaker with Gruu if
second_unit is Kapou'e. Gruu is always around and the dialog makes sense with
him. The only downside is Gruu probably isn't very close to the lake.

Kapou'e: "Chief! It's true, the shamans have been murdered!" (talking to
himself)
Kapou'e: "What should I do with this one?" (asking himself what to do)

not quite as bad, Kapou'e: "Refer to Black-Eye Karun with respect, wose-born.
Now, where are the shamans?" (speaking in the third person)
