Follow-up Comment #1, bug #14486 (project wesnoth):
it's not random, both unit list and recall list use a special sorting for XP
column.
it's sorted by level followed by XP needed to advance.
i guess when someone sorts units by XP they're usually interested in units
that are about to level...
