Follow-up Comment #3, bug #14250 (project wesnoth):
You don't have to delete all your preferences, but you may need to go into
Wesnoth's preferences, go to Hotkeys, and set "Quit Game" to cmd+w. Without
that, I can reproduce what you're saying - with that, it works as expected.
So here's how it's supposed to work:
cmd+q: always quits right away.
cmd+w: quits the current game if you're playing one.
Cmd+w is the default "quit game" hotkey now, but if you already had it set
before, it won't reset it.
