Follow-up Comment #2, bug #14300 (project wesnoth):

I just tried everything I can think of to reproduce the problem, and I got
*one* character worth of fudged up text (whereas nearly every line of text
was garbled before) in 1.7.9.  I guess that indicates that there may still be
some issue.  I'll keep trying and see if I can narrow it down.

The only thing that I could reproduce was that after scrolling around a bit
if your sentence ends in "m"  as in:  mmmmmm

then the last m looks a bit chopped off.  The text also donesn't look as
'clean' as in 1.6.x.  The font defiantly doesn't look anywhere near as nice
and crisp on my machine as it does in the stable branch, but that may be
unrelated ... or it may be related.

Here is a replay from 1.7.9.  "D" also looks a bit chopped.
