Follow-up Comment #2, bug #15514 (project wesnoth):
I am quite sure that in 1.7.10 (and long before) the behavior was the same. I
do not consider this a bug, it's the wml author's job to write his code
appropriate / to check that the variable isn't empty, or to make sure that
there must be a matching unit.
