Follow-up Comment #1, bug #16165 (project wesnoth):
Can units even obtain a new unit type trough AMLA? Not as far as I know. I
thought the definition of AMLA was that it was a levelup, after the unit had
reached it's maximum unit type in the tree. For example: For horsemen that go
lancer it is level 2. Another example: mages can go mage>red mage>arch
mage>great mage, reaching their maximum unit type at level 4 if they take
that route. So horsemen level, mages, red mages, arch mages all level, whilst
lancers and great mages AMLA because there is no higher unit type to which
they can evolve.
