Follow-up Comment #1, bug #17296 (project wesnoth):
Just speaking as an ordinary user, I think you'll find the rest of the gold
went to your allies, it's split among the 4 attacking groups. That's why you
have 1/4 what you expected.
(Though there might still be the bug with the elf allies not getting their
gold, I don't know .)
