Follow-up Comment #2, bug #17322 (project wesnoth):
It is not specially related to animations, just to resetting while the
scenario is playing. There is no easy way to fix it, since the engine just
doesn't like to be interrupted so we have no way to forcefully exit the
currently running code. (For similar reasons, the "stop replay" button only
stops the scenario at the end of a turn rather than immediately.) Perhaps a
temporary solution would be to enable the reset button only when the replay is
stopped.
