Follow-up Comment #2, bug #18771 (project wesnoth):
For the sake of completeness, I can messure an even much more massive
slowdown when running wesnoth under the MSVC debugger. Whith MSVC release
builds, I can't detect a slowdown. Same for the build under Linux.
The MinGw build slowdown is likely to affect the official windows releases
since that's almost the same build system.
