Follow-up Comment #1:

I decide this one to be a "wont'fix."
reasons:
-The problem is pretty negligible, since the endlevel defeat exception is
thrown once you press turn done after loading this auto savegame.
-The fix I had in mind moves the autosaving from
playsingle_controller::before_human_turn to an earlier spot (into
playsingle_controller::play_turn, right after the turn change so that it
happens previously to the wml events which can kill the must-not-die units)
but this would have unwanted side effects. For instance, in case of a
controller change in multiplayer you get an autosave after getting control
this would no longer be the case.
-After all, I don't think the benefit of fixing this outweights the possible
side effects and the effort.
