Follow-up Comment #3, bug #18483 (project wesnoth):

It should disable duration by defaut (duration = 0) and allow it by specifying
value higher than 0.
Anyway, when it will be implemented in 1.10.x?
It would help in multiplayer when there are many messages about items or
dialogs that can cause long waiting when player is waiting for turn bell and
is afk or not paying attention (i.e. is checking something in another window
so he can't see the message).
It should also work with options when there is defined default option with *
but wait for selection when no default option is defined.
