Follow-up Comment #3, bug #20337 (project wesnoth):
Screenshots attached, see mint-01.jpg and mint-02.jpg. Color depth is 24 bit.
And I also have used Radeon 9600 card in the past, which don't supported more
by ATI and has only not very well open drivers. But now I changed it to
GeForce 7300 - the fonts are still green.
