Follow-up Comment #4:

This should now be fixed in 1.13. Unlikely to get backported to 1.12 as it
involves changes to all animations using slow/poison sounds, and would thus
cause UMC units to play sounds double if their animations are not updated, or
to not play the sounds at all if their animations are not updated but 1.12.4
or earlier is used.
