Follow-up Comment #1, bug #23934 (project wesnoth):
Obviously this is exacerbated on slower machines.
In Linux, I notice display corruption while waiting for the window to be
updated with the new resolution. In contrast, Windows simply shows a clean
blank display (all black) before the window gets updated. However, I don't
think this is a huge problem: we already have a precedent in the existing
change-resolution-via-menu function. Similar display corruption can be
observed after changing the resolution via menu until the dialogue is closed.
The aforementioned display corruption in Linux happens with both ATI/AMD and
NV GPUs.
