I've just learned from Sapient on IRC that there is -- a shell-like $() eval
facility developed for formula AI but now exposed for general
attributes. It's poorly documented; my brand-new Writer's Forum has a
task-list item about fixing that.
I guess this makes my proposal unnecessary.
