Dear Wesnoth developers,

my name is Giacomo Poderi, I'm a PhD student (Sociology) interested in
Free Software projects. My research interests are on how software usage,
users participation, and mediation between users&devs can influence the
software development in distributed environments. My PhD research takes
Battle for Wesnoth as 'case study' for investigating these aspects.
A broad overview of the research project is outlined here [0], while a
more 'dynamic narrative' of what I'm doing is published on the blog page
here [1].

Since my research involves active engagement with 'the community',
I'm already registered in the international forum as BfWEthnographer
[2], I hang around on the MP lobby and, occasionally, on some IRC
channels (same nickname).
I recently registered to this mailing list and, with this e-mail, I
wanted to introduce myself and my research.

Basically, I'm in the list to follow discussions concerning game
development and design issues. Additionally, in the coming weeks I'll
send a call for interviewees recruitment (there, I'll explain the
details of interviews), so that anyone who'd be willing to help in my
research could do it.

I'm available to clarify any doubts concerning my research activities to
the list (or via private mail, if you wish).

If you have any question, please do not hesitate to ask.

Thank you very much and best wishes to everyone for the new year!
