You might or might have not been following the recent discussions about the add-ons server on the forums. It's full of world-saving ideas and high philosophy thus it's not really leading anywhere, but nonetheless it reveals the wide discontent with the current state of things on the server (which wasn't really a secret anyways, but meh).

I think there are a few simple actions we can and should take to improve the situation: 1) Extend the message shown before uploading to actually list all the publishing rules instead of just the GPL notice 2) In the meantime, enforce those rules, with special regards to removing broken stuff (I volunteer to do the work, if the site admins don't want to get yet another area of responsibility) 3) There has been some impressive user efforts to track UMC content quality (see [1] and [2]), we could provide some publicity to those with a tip on the main screen
