-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi folks!
If you are planning to mentor for Wesnoth in this years GSoC please read this mail. If not, just ignore it... These are the steps which are most important right now: 1) Mentors need to have a current profile in the google melange system. Please go to [1] and get yourself an (update) profile. 2) Either you click on "start a connection", select Wesnoth as org and enter the nickname under which Noy and I know you as well as "I consider mentoring this year" in the "Send New Message" box. Or you just tell me your Username at google-melange and I can send you the invite which you would have to accept. Mordante and Trademark have already completed this step successfully. Once the two steps above are done you should have access to the proposals submitted to Wesnoth via melange. What happens afterwards is: 3) Students have until the 21st of March to submit their proposal to melange. Only proposals submitted there can be accepted. 4) On the 7th we have to be done deciding how many slots we ask for. So please make sure to tell me between say 21st March and 2nd April what you think, if you can/will mentor a student or not so that I can request the number of slots from Google. 5) In the meantime please review submitted proposals and provide students with feedback so that they can update/fix their proposals. 6) On the 9th we will learn how many slots we really received (usually the number we ask for!), so sometime around that point in time we should work on deciding whom to accept. This means reviews should be about done then and we should have a good idea of a preliminary ranking. We will then setup some meeting in #wesnoth-mentor during which we finalize the ranking. I would like to see this done before April 13th. We should also directly discuss backups in case we get duplicates/conflicts with other orgs. The deduplication checks start on April 15th. If you want to have a look at the GSoC timeline yourself, just head over to [2]. That is all the work required for the next weeks. Please make sure to talk to the students and help them work on their proposals.
