Removing strings is always fine. Just adding additional strings or changing

Sorry for not getting out a new release yet. Right now I think I am waiting
for a decision about the whiteboard. In case there is really nobody who will
be fixing it I guess removing it is the only option we have. So is there
somebody who volunteers to look into the buggy whiteboard and will try to fix
it in the near future?

The main whiteboard bug <https://gna.org/bugs/index.php?22231> should now be fixed for the 1.12 branch. Could do with some minor testing before release, but looks good to me.

I suspect there are subtle whiteboard bugs (that also existed in 1.10) that remain and are hard to reproduce. I suggest these can be fixed for 1.12.1 though if they cause a problem.
