I am new to your list so tell me if I am submitting this wrong. I am in a
quandry about my ancestors home town in Germany. It is Bielefeld,
Westphalia. There are still lots of Tuxhorn families residing there today.
There were several Tuxhorn men and a few women who came over to the states
and some of us believe that these people were of the same family and others
do not believe it. What I need from some informed person is this. Since
Germany did not have regular census taking as we do, is there some kind of a
list that I can locate that will place these men with their parents in
Germany? The time frame would be about 1830. Were there tax records or
something else that would list the parents and their children? Any help
would be very much appreciated. Linda
