*Killings in Koboko* After reading a few of the commends in the net, I thought I should contribute something 1) Those who released the trigger should be held accountable in a court of law for murder and prosecuted according to laws in Uganda. If this is not done, they will do this again.
2) The local authorities RCs or LCs should work together with URA to educate people about the benefits of taxation. In one way or another the taxes return to the regions for running better programs/development we are all crying for. There is NO REASON to KILL Tax Payers. URA should arm themselves with Cameras and take pictures of those people smuggling goods. Arrest the people in a peaceful and charge them for tax evasion. 3) Reducing Tax Rate requires community effort to lobby law makers. Written letter of memorandum with signatures to MPS and Parliament is a good way to go. No one can condone barbaric acts. We are civilized enough to solve problems in a mature manner. If you witnessed the suffering of our people in 1980's in Sudan and Congo, who would like to promote gun culture again? Violence is acceptable. Lets us look at what happened in Gulu? 4) URA should establish a fair tax bracket that is manageable. People pay tax everywhere in the world. In the developed countries, Sales tax is collected on everything you buy. This tax is used for running government programs. 5) Income Tax is collected from wage earners every where in the World. In the developed countries, part of the excess tax collected above the "Tax Bracket" is returned to tax payers at end of the Fiscal Year. If we the educated people can lobby for Tax Policy Changes, may be the government can do something. If we keep quiet, policy makers will think people are happy On Sun, Mar 15, 2009 at 3:58 PM, <[email protected]> wrote: > Send WestNileNet mailing list submissions to > [email protected] > > To subscribe or unsubscribe via the World Wide Web, visit > http://orion.kym.net/mailman/listinfo/westnilenet > or, via email, send a message with subject or body 'help' to > [email protected] > > You can reach the person managing the list at > [email protected] > > When replying, please edit your Subject line so it is more specific > than "Re: Contents of WestNileNet digest..." > > > Today's Topics: > > 1. 2 die in Koboko riot (Caleb Alaka) > 2.
