Colleagues,
I cant help but to concur with Andema in entire fullness that the initiative
undertaken by Fr. Ezama is an award winning one.However before CNN, BBC etc can
come nearer i would suggest that one of our own, Jimmy Adriko of New Vision or
Tabu Butagira of the Monitor quickly gets an interview with Fr.
Ezama(preferably on phone or using their Arua based correspondents) to have an
article on this innovation on the respective news papers.
I have no doubt that the two distinguished bishops will embrace the idea on
spot!
Am aware that many of us can join the crusade despite large restrictions of
living in rented premises in "urban" areas where land ladies/lords will not
allow any "interefence" with their compounds.Why cant we then have a tree
planted in our villages each time we baptise away from home.In retrospect i
think of myself and Eng. Okuni !!!
If we had started this kind of venture long ago the hullabaloo about Barifa
would not be that much and besides the looming hunger(famine) that is
threatening our region could easily be negotiated round and about
mangoes,guavas,avocados etc.But see what is there: Mango trees cut down to burn
bricks!!
To Andema. I have already tasked peolple on the ground to rejuvinate my earlier
abandoned project on tree planting in Riki, near Ocoodri after 4000 trees went
to ruins due to neglect.Lately am told it is part of the oil reserves in Rhino
Camp extending to my land largely responsible for the "loss"(Dont envy me for
soon i may receive royalties).
Once again congs Fr. Ezama for that big thought and hoping to see a green West
Nile in the short run.
