Dear Colleagues

Here is an appeal from the Engineering allied students at Makerere University
towards promoting sciences in our schools in West Nile - a good contributor to
our efforts to 'rekindle the fire' and improve on performance. It is
particularly appealing because it targets the whole of West Nile
(consolidation), and focuses on the more difficult and weaker area (sciences).

Please come up and identify with this initiative, which contributes towards the
ideas we have recently discussed regarding education in the region. I am sure
we can easily mainstream and guide this as one of the practical actions that
can give a bite to the issues we discuss (under the initiative led by Fr.
Ruffino). Any contributions may be channeled through the contact below - and of
course we would expect some accountability at the end.

Kind regards

Patrick Okuni

Dear sir/madam…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..
Ref; Requisition for financial/ material support towards M.A.Y.T.S.A program
M.A.Y.T.S.A is a student founded association I faculty of technology Makerere
University which brings together students from the districts of Arua, Moyo,
Adjumani, Koboko, and Yumbe offering various courses in the faculty.
The association members led by the president normally carry out activities
during the recess periods of June-August and December-February aimed at
benefiting the science offering secondary schools at A-level.
Among the activities carried include;
ü      Career guidance which is done by moving to these schools sharing our
experiences.
ü      Organizing coaching. This is done during holiday of Dec-Jan where we
have teachers in the various subject areas tackle technical aspects which a
very necessary for the UNEB questions and over view of past papers by the fresh
graduates.
ü      Holiday radio talk-shows which helps to sensitize parents and the stake
holders about their roles and contribution to the better performance of the
students in the districts.
Since the association is a technology based association, the emphasis is on the
science subjects of physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics and economics
which are the relevant subjects for any one to qualify to do any course in the
faculty implying that the most benefiting schools are the science offering
schools plus their arts students.
For these set objectives to be achieved it take s the commitment of the members
do the service but the only constraint is the finances to carry out the
activities, the members therefore request for your support towards the program
and look forward to your usual support, together we can revive the lost glory
of the region.
Yours in service
