Dear Patrice and all,

When the idea of profiling Phds came up, something sat uncomfortably in my
stomach and I could not quite identify it. Your mail has made it clearer to
me. Regardless of the academic qualifications we have, we are all making
tremendous contributions to our society. So what was the rationale of
profiling the Phds? It is not that I am against Phds -( I am actually
struggling with the last procedures on mine). I just feel that doing this
without any apparent reason may unnecessarily classify people. In my view
doctoral achievements can be celebrated but they should not be used to set
people apart. What about the many people on this forum who have achieved so
much personally and for society without doctoral studies?
Instead, I like Patrice's idea of profiling everyone so that we can see the
richness that we have in diversity. We all can then be affirmed in our
uniqueness.
