Dear all,
Greetings, I am venturing into a subject that has been debated off this forum in several community gatherings including Ombaci OB's, Chuma social place and Nalya cafe among others. Many have shared opinions and ideas on the dress, symbol and other memorabilia for the West Nile Community, other have advised consultations with elders in the region given that it is quite diverse in tribe, culture and beliefs. I have however been encouraged to present it here for discussion, so basically the idea is to come up with a contemporary traditional/symbolic dress for the community, this may be worn during functions, annual events etc... The attire may also come with the "Ndere " for Lugbara, the Alur could use an item favoured too, likewise with Madi, Kakwa, Aringa but making sure they look like a variation of the same. If this idea is favoured, I can ask Ms. Santa Anzo to come up with suggestions and they will be posted here and the theme that receives the biggest vote will be selected. From this initial stage we can continue to grow the unity by coming up with in future a west nile cultural day that will be hosted on rotational basis around the west nile region... Just ideas for the forum...
