Dear all,
Ugandans across the globe will join to celebrate independence; a day in which
they, in their own words will depict how much they’ve achieved as a country in
the 48 years of independence. As we take stock of how far we’ve come, many
painters will focus on the cosmetic picture of our economy that puts money in
the pockets of a few rich and continues to blame colonial masters for our
misery
to date.
Just as these facts hold true to many, my mind still battles with reality of
immeasurable number of Basoga still languishing in jiggers; the number of poor
peasants still carrying patients on wooden chairs tied on bicycle carriers; 11
millions Ugandans still on chains and cannot afford Ugx. 2000 a day; the agony
of millions of pregnant women not sure of surviving at childbirth; the dilemma
of children whose chance of seeing the sun rise again after the 5th birthday
remains an illusion; above all a memory of a mother who could not be saved by
the new district of Maracha wand succumbed to death at Kijomoro Health center,
a
center that has joined other institutions death for lack of drugs and basic
medical equipments not even an a district ambulance.
Not only was the independence of Ghana in 1957 meaningless to Kwame Nkurumah
unless accompanied by total liberations of other African States. The
Independence of Uganda will be meaningless if our heath centres can't cease
being institutions of death. We can never be free if quality education is a
preserve for the affluent. We cannot be free while our immediate neighbors are
on the chains of poverty. It can never be independence if our youth cannot find
job. We are not free if we cannot determine the way our resources and life
should be government without fear or favor. With the 48 years pointing to
nothing except legacy of doom and a direction of a desperate call to action, we
are not free. The voices of our dear ones whom the promise of life continues to
evade surpasses our hesitance to act; it is a voice that beeps at the doors of
the poor and rich, educated and uneducated, democrat and undemocratic reminding
them to ignore their diversities and heed the promise of others in a country
where we are tied by destiny.
Gallant comrades, the coming months offer not only unprecedented opportunity to
respond to desperation of humanity, they represent the long awaited commitment
needed to lift mankind and to change spheres of life including governments no
longer serve our purpose and put dreams of our people far from reach. As a much
counted part of the sum, neither I nor you can stand still while a better
future
escapes the aspirations of our people. It’s this realization that must make us
rise where our predecessors didn't. It’s this realization that made people of
different political affiliations resolve i should be unopposed as FDC candidate.
On that note, I take this opportunity to announce my candidacy for Member of
Parliament, an answer to a long awaited call from passionate hearts of women
and
men, youth and elders, urging me to seek office of MP. It’s a call that fits
into our previous attempts to make progress in food security, youth development
and poverty eradication but with victory is still faint.
My goal is now to bring extreme poverty, depleting environment, youth
unemployment, education and health to the forefront of issues. I believe there
are workable solutions available that will guarantee future for our children
without creating a hardship through our collective engagement. I would like to
see West Nile return to self-sustainability by emphasizing entrepreneurship
rather than depending on handouts and unsustainable social agendas. It is my
dream to see our people once again set the standard for education, wealth
creation and good health. My conviction is that together we can redirect the
path of women and youth from survival to prosperity through skills development.
I have been old enough to recognize that early childhood development is the
genesis and blue print of future we want build. I further refuse to accept that
it is too late to save our tobacco farmers and environment from the unchecked
exploitation of tobacco companies. As you can see, I’m not only focused on the
possibility of serving the people of our great region, I’m here promise a new
dawn of hope and God’s purpose geared towards finding collectively answers to
the question ‘what what have you done for your nation?’
But before I can rise to these tasks, I must conduct an organised campaign to
defeat agents of deceit and division who have perfected their act. They’ve been
there long enough to master the act and are more than committed to entrench
their vision. Due to the peculiar layout of our large county and the cost of
campaign in the territory, success in this election requires a very strong and
dedicated grass roots organization. The voters of our county are willing to
step
forward with my family in a united volunteer effort. My supporters are already
hard at work doing all that is possible within their means; building winning
strategies, recruiting volunteers, preaching change etc. More have promised to
join to help knock on doors, place yard signs and of course, participate in any
upcoming events. With thousands of litres of fuel to purchase, countless phone
calls to make, hundreds of posters to order, hundreds of volunteers to feed and
40 parishes to cover, I will need your help. I am turning to the people who
have
known me the longest, who know me best, and humbly inviting you to get involved
in my campaign to help make a difference.
Your early contribution of Ugx. 10000, 20000, 50000, 100000, 250000, 500000 or
1000000 will help me raise the vital “early seed money” I need to successfully
launch this campaign. Our goal is to raise Ugx 50,000,000= by start of the
campaigns. I'm humbly asking for your support in helping us rise to this great
challenge of giving Maracha the change West Nile craves for. Your support
through mobile money to 0712377401 or through President's office will highly
be
appreciated. Thanks in advance for your usual encouragement, generous support,
and prayers. I'm grateful for the friendship of some members who have been
able to help without my call. Wish you blessings in your endeavors.
Happy Independence!
