Hello brothers and sisters

I have been following our debates with joy seeing the way we are focusing on
issues. The topic being debated was meant to last for two weeks and we pass
to another topic. As the one who tried to moderate this topic I wish to
inform us that we should close this topic this coming Sunday (October 24).
Our sister Christine Munduru will take over the moderation on the theme that
Jackson mentioned "Youth unemployment and substance abuse: causes and what
to do in the face of these"

I feel some concrete points on civic education and development issues can
still be sent to the secretary to be included for summaries.

I would like to share with you this testimony from Kisoro that happened in
the last political elections. A then deputy minister went to the Boda Boda
guys wanting to give them 5,000 ugx so that he be voted. The boda boda guys
sat down to do their simple arithmetics and divided that amount by 5 years
that the candidate will be in Parliament before coming back to them again to
beg votes. Then they divided the 1,000 ugx by the 12 months of the year and
they found out that this guy wanted to buy them at 83 shillings per month
and 2.80 shillings per day. They refused to give the votes and refused his
money. We need our collective conscience as West Nilers to be educated in
the right sense.

Lets continue to remain focused. Vasco nice stated "While we can still
debate the manifestos of our aspiring politicians, we probably may need to
get down to finding strategies of how we can do some of these things for
ourselves rather than think that we are going to elect people who will do
these things for us."

I dont care about parties, i have never voted in my life for Uganda, my
vocation calls me to support people not parties. Let's concentrate on these
developmental issues of our region that cut across parties, religion, ethnic
belongings etc

The points are being synthesized. Any volunteers who would like to moderate
forth coming debates should willingly come up. May God bless West Nile!

Ruffino
