Dear friends,
According to the district health officials in Agago district, the new disease
is diarrhea / dysentery and they have issued a health advisory in this regard
for the population which include primarily the following:
1. AVOID PUBLIC GATHERING AS THE DISEASE SEEMS TO BE CONTAGIOUS.
2. AVOID BODY CONTACTS INCLUDING HANDSHAKES.
3. AVOID ATTENDING FUNERALS OF THE DECEASED FROM THE DISEASE.
4. AVOID CONSUMPTION OF WILD ANIMALS INCLUDING PORK.
The advisories are similar to the measures against Ebola. It is recommended
that UN and operational partners staff deployed and traveling to this area
follow these advisories until a WHO advisory is in place.
We received unverified reports that the disease may have spread to some part of
Kitgum district.
At this point of time, there is no strong ground to restrict UN movement to the
area in general however, local discretion by agencies can be exercised to
restrict movements to essential travels until the situation / diagnosis is
clear and advisory issued by WHO.
We hope that this mitigation advisory reaches all your staff / families at your
respective AORs.
Dear friends this message was circulated for UN staff but we equally can not
escape if encountered with. So be informed
Kind regards
