INNOVATION AND CREATIVITY

Let me start by saying that most people like to work for others because they
are not willing to take risks in business ventures. If you belong to this
group of people, you can wait.

Investing is not a game known by many people as most of us have been raised
with the concept of SAVE YOUR MONEY.  With Interest rates in Uganda at 15%
t0 16% if you have a pool of money somewhere in a bank, may be if you close
your eyes for some time, the money will continue to grow. By the time you
open your eyes, you are laughing and your pockets are full of money. Don't
forget inflation and uncle Sam who wants a share of that money too and your
relatives who want a piece of the pie.

The concept of pooling money together started a long time ago, and it has
been used by banks to make money. They never disclosed to the customers how
they use the cusomers money to make money. The commom wisdom "is use money
to make more money".

In the western world, there are thousands of finance companies that pool
money from their members, they use the money for purchasing  shares or
stocks in the most successfull companies in their own country; and sometimes
abroad.

This technique is known as MUTUAL FUNDS.  Mutual funds are popular vehicles
for  building wealth  for the share holders. Fund managers invest the funds
collected from participants in high performing stocks.

Have Mutual Funds made millionares? Yes, they have. They have turned
ordinary people like you and me into successfull millionares or even
billionares over a time.

Can you do it alone? May be if you are rich enough. If you are empolyee like
me, probably not in the near future.

Mutual Funds are tightly regulated so that share holders are not taken
advantage of. What we need is strigent rules and regulations of how the
funds will be mananaged. Fund owners always get annual statements. They vet
the board of directors and hire professionals to manage the funds.

Can you opt out of the funds? yes you can, You can withdraw  your funds
whenever you need them if you are not satisfied with performance or you have
emergency like death, etc.

Is this one really for me?  You have the right to choose. Nobody is forced
to invest any way.
You can take the horse to the river but you cannot force the horse to drink
the water. It will always say "NaY" boss. I am not thirsty. Why did you
bring here anyway? I just wanted fill my stomach with more grass.

Do I need more education on this? If you do, I can send web links for some
well managed International funds  for the sceptics to educate themselves.
Konwledge is power.

Lastly, instead blamming the government all the time, we must become
innovative and creative in solving poverty among ourselves, create
opportunity for our young men and women who are struggling pushing GADI GADI
in Kampala or Arua Park. Many are langushing as security guards in Kampala.
The government cannot fix every problem.

We have to encourage enterpreneurship and some intelligent risk taking to
create more jobs.

What did it take a man like Mukwano to become such a billionare in Uganda
today? How about the Chawda's in those days, etc, etc?

If business is not for you, stay some 100 miles or km away. Wait for our
succcessfull West Niles  swarve by in their glittering expensive luxury cars
drive by some time soon. Wait and see if they will put you in their
mercedes, jajuar, etc?

God Bless the dedicated team. Don't panick. This is what it takes to build a
successful teams. The sceptics will always scare or stare while others are
busy pulling the rocks for storeyed building. Sky Crapers are build by big
dreamers  but not sleepers.
