Dear Aggrey, Thanks for the comments and suggestions. It is unfortunate that you heard of it late, am also not on ground right now but am in touch with people on ground and things are going on very well. Over 200 people so far gathered and more were still coming the time I talked to the people on ground and we had to get PAS due to the large numbers. The LCI of the place was so excited and mobilized people under his jurisdiction and he thinks this is an initiative his people need. I wish all the people who go searching for votes would think of this as a way of helping their voters besides the departmental heads. We have tried to share the Science cafe idea with most of the leaders in Arua and they are so interested. If the various departments can support it as you have suggested, I think it will go a long way helping the people. We shall follow up with them on how to sustain and spread it.
We are also happy to share ideas of how this could become part of the activities for the old students' associations for the schools we are trying to help improve standards. This could be introduced to the schools and many of the old students in the various fields would go share information and this could help cuptivate interest, improve their thinking and studies. We have shared with some of the leaders of the old students' associations but we have not yet got feedback. Interestingly somebody offered office equipment and another offered office space in Arua to have a fully fledged office for Science Cafe last week when were doing mobilization but we shall go slow but thoroughly and make sure all we need for continuity is around before we enggage in some of the commitments. Surely Uncle Nyax did a great job and this needs appreciation and am happy that you have given him what he well deserves, I like the term you have used, "positve abuse", that is what he exactly did. many people got the information from his announcements and called us to confirm which was great. Most of the radio stations approached expressed interest in relaying it live but lacked equipment. Next time may be they will think of doing something like Nyax did. If many of us could use "positive abuse" of our offices like Nyax, I think we would be doing great job to our communities. Great weekend members.
