The inaugural school brought together a dynamic group of scholars and human rights activists in the East African region committed to bringing legal and human rights perspectives to bear in the important area of access to medicines. Following from the success of the first session, HURIPEC is pleased to announce that it will conduct a **Second** **School**to run from *September 5 to September 16, 2011* in ****Kampala**, ****Uganda******. **** ** ** Funded by the Open Society Initiative for East Africa (OSIEA), the two-week training school seeks to build the capacity of civil society activists, policy makers, lawyers, media practitioners and other key stakeholders in the technical and juridical aspects of Human Rights, Intellectual Property and Access to Medicines and to introduce selected participants to the various salient issues that have arisen in the Eastern African region around these areas. Ultimately, the objective of the program is to create a critical mass of individuals from varied backgrounds fully equipped with knowledge of the crucial interlinkages between Human Rights, Intellectual Property and Access to Medicines and who are able critically engage with the contemporary obstacles to access to essential medicines in the Eastern African region.**** ** ** The school will be conducted by a distinguished panel of regional and international experts working in the fields of Human Rights, Intellectual Property and Access to Medicines. It will combine both in-class lecture sessions with field visits and practical assignments to enrich the learning experience of participants. **** ** ** HURIPEC now invites participants from *****Uganda******, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi* to apply for this seminar.
