This topic was selected by the district health team and the members above
based on the gravity of the problem of diabetes in West Nile and in
preparation to the Diabetes month (November).Announcements are being run by
Uncle Nyax and Baby Francis on radio Pacis to this effect. Please inform
your friends and relatives to come and listen to this very important
message. Diabetes is basicaly a nutritional diseases without a cure but can
be prevented only by knowing what to do, how to do it and at what time and
this can be possible if you have the information and Science cafe through
the competent team listed above will be sharing this inforamtion with people
in Arua Municpality.

On 30th October, there will be science cafe in Omukama ya'fuga group in
Entebbe

Topic: *Child Health and Nutrition*
Presenter: *Dr. Agnes Bukirwa from Mildmay Uganda.*
Time: *5pm.*

On 23rd October Group four, Science Cafe group in Entebbe requested for
HIV testing and counselling and discussion on HIV preventive methods.
Science cafe in partnership with Entebbe hospital organized the discussions
together with HIV testing and counselling services which was attended by 52
people and 34 people tested with two people testing positive. The two
people were referred for further management in the hospital.

We could not share the report on Hepatitis B discussions in Arua due to time
factor but it was such a terrific discussion by Dr. Onzubo and the community
and it was very evident that the community is getting to understand health
issues surrounding them through these discussions given the questions and
appreciative messages and testmonies that came up. The information about
Hep.B was new for the community including those who were already diagnosed
with the disease and many people remained thanking the person who chose the
topic. Dr. Onzubo himself appreciated this method of communication which he
said was better than talking over the radio because in cafe people ask
questions and they go home satisfied and also the presenter goes home
satisfied. He pledged to be part of Arua cafe team and support these
activities in Arua.

Thanks to the Arua team in advance for the preparations. This is going to be
a very action packed discussion from the way it looks.

Christine
