Dear members, this is to let you know that science cafe will be officially
launched in Maracha on 30th June 2012 at Nyadri-Go down from 2pm, courtesy
of Hon. Lematia Ruth the woman member of Parliament for Maracha district.
Hon. Lematia being one of the most senior and longest serving civil
servants in the area of health from the region connected to science cafe
model of information sharing more quickly than other leaders who have
attended the discussions before. The two main reasons that led to the 1978
Alma Ata declaration were prevention and community involvement which upto
now have been difficult to achieve and this is where for health discussions
science cafe has a hinge. Prevention cannot be achieved without community
empowerement and involvement. We can see this clearly with the wide Cholera
outbreak in the region taking place right now in 2012 which should not have
been the case. Cholera outbreak means we are "eating feaces" and the only
solution is to deposit feaces in latrine and wash our hands with a
detergent after toilet and there will be no Cholera but what has made this
difficult for us making us to circumb to morbidity and mortality due to
cholera?

The topic for discussions will therefore be:
**
*Cholera, the preventable killer*

 Presenters:
              Hon. Lematia Ruth
                  DHO Maracha district
                  Health Inspector Maracha district

Hon. Lematia has therefore invited all the people of Maracha and well
wishers to come together and listen to the discussions and later be able
to adopt this model to address development issues in the district. science
cafe will be ably represented to present the model to the team in Maracha
on that day and be able to provide any support thereafter to ensure that
this takes place on ground successfully.

All those who have the place and development in the region at heart are
invited to attend and support in various ways.

Thanks
Christine
