I suggest you join SASA and participate in its activities.Here is the information about SASA: SASA is a not-for-profit association founded by a group of African, Canadian and American physicians, scientists, academics and other professionals in 2011. The association was inaugurated as an official entity in April 2013 during our first international conference in Polokwane, South Africa. SASA is a not-for-profit international association of scientists, academic and research institutions, government agencies, philanthropists and funding agencies dedicated to advancing the frontiers of science in Africa by building an African scientific capacity and knowledge base. SASA’s mission is to promote science education, improve health and advance social and economic development on the African continent. The organization aims to foster continent-wide collaborations, inter-disciplinary research initiatives and advancing the frontiers of science with innovative ideas. We plan to achieve our goals by promoting and supporting scientific research in these key areas: biomedical science including genetics and genomics, health including public health, science education, engineering and technology, environmental science, agriculture and fisheries, mining and metallurgy. Since its launch, the association has several hundred registered members globally – from Africa, North America, Europe, South America, and Asia and fellowship is growing. The society’s members include researchers, academics, professionals and others who have a special interest in advancing science in Africa and our members work in a variety of domains including government, universities, institutes, and medical settings. We hope to broaden our reach by establishing scholarly cooperation and to share its forward-thinking ideas with established scientific organizations like the National Institutes of Health, American Association for the Advancement of Science, the British Science Association, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the World Health Organization and other international scientific organizations. SASA will be holding its second international conference for the Advancement of Science in Africa on May 7-10, 2014 in Kampala, Uganda. The theme of this year’s conference is “Science Innovation and Economic Development”. The founding of SASA has struck a cord around the World. So encourage everybody to join.
