“A year ago, I was talking to a colleague in Kitchener, Ontario. He had previously lived in Koboko and this picked my interest. This is mainly because one of my influential teachers at Juba Model School was a gentleman called Simon Aloro”.
“I recall one of his daughters was called Beatrice and she was my classmate. So my colleague told me that Aloro’s daughter is in Canada. And he mentioned your name”. “My colleagues and I from Juba Model often ask about Mr. Simon, as we knew him. To cut a long story short, it is an honour to see a name like yours associated to my former teacher”. Those were the words of Brian, one of my father’s pupils. He is now an accomplished Journalist. I share his words here to honour my father and all the fathers and father figures that have made everyone who they are. That includes challenging relationships that made you the incredible person you have become and will become one day for those who are still being tested! Wishing you Happy Fathers’ Day everyone!!
