Gov't Needs To Be Peaceful. I' ve heard some officials call for peace. That is totally welcome. The problem here is that it is the very people deploying state agents to shoot civilians, train militia's, round up civilian supporters, arrest political opponents, block campaign rallies, threaten the media, and supress the peoples right to political demonstrations. The very officials that are engaged in partisan activities, corruption, political patronage, nepotism, underhanded electioneering, threatening activists, "quashing opponents" as they say, macro scale voter bribery, plus other broad daylight malpractices and injustice. This is done in total contravention of the second pigeon hole constitution of Uganda that they wrote themselves. The first one being the Obote Constitution 1966. Coming from the perpetrator, isn't that call for peace quite shallow, dishonest? All political violence in the last twenty four months has been instigated by the state. They have undressed honourable women in public and assaulted the private parts of others. So how does one call for peace while actually practicing violence, impunity and electoral injustices? If they stopped, isn't their automatic peace? It could therefore be more meaningful to instead call on gov't to steer clear with its troops, their assault rifles, armoured combat vehicles and .50 calibre mounted machine guns from the people, so that no more Ugandans die from a state bullet like Elias Kwesiga did on Monday (RIP), and so that the country can be peaceful from today.
