On February 2nd 1978, the once celebrated documentary film maker Martyn
Burka dared Amin:
- A three hour walk.
- Downtown Kampala city.
- Only one body guard.
I suspect Mr. Burke hoped my father would be killed by the Ugandan people.
The picture shows that false media claims that Amin was unpopular, were
completely rubbished by the people themselves that day.
In the subsequent documentary from this trip, such cool images were edited
out. I asked Mr. Burke why recently. The probably disgruntled gentleman
hasn't responded.
More importantly, he also possibly refused to include in the documentary
the concrete reponses by Amin to the serious allegations the journalist
makes. Even today, wouldn't people want to hear a serious response from
Amin himself about the Chief Justice Ben Kiwanuka question for example? Or
what Amin said about my mother Kay Amin? Or the many other crazy
accusations?
It seems therefore that Mr Burke is a dishonest person who was out to
slander, misinform and smear my father. A real stab in the back since Amin
had treated him so well during his stay.
So while Mr. Burke to this day goes around the world claiming to be an
impartial professional journalist, he could be nothing more than a deeply
disgruntled assh*le.
Meanwhile, if any Ugandan leader says he is as loved by the Ugandan people
as Amin was, feel free to try this same Flash Mob Test.
If you survive it, then Ugandans really love you and will protect you.
