It is truly sad that Parliament can spend meager resources to attend a conference of Ugandan refugees based in North America. To see that the refugees(may of who are now USA and Canadian citizens) themselves can encourage this type of irresponsible behaviour is beyond comprehension.

How can a reasonable Ugandan who has grown and lives iand knows poverty in and out, with their surrounding infected by jiggers spend nearly $6000 US flying first class to attend the refugee conference in the US. Would these parliamentarians use their own money to fly first class. Even for short distances like Entebbe - Addis, Ugandan parliamentarians fly first class (I was shocked beyond belief when during my last trip to Uganda when I a good friend who is a Clerk in Parliament joined me in Economy class on the last leg of the flight from Addis to Entebbe. SHe had accompanied some Parliamentarians to the AU and when I asked where the parliamentarians are, I was told they fly first class)!!!! Even affluent parliamentarians of affluent countries such as Canada don't fly first class but our parliamentarians feel entitled to fly first class no matter how short the distance is!! I recall flying within Canada and in the seat next to me was the Premier of the biggest province in Canada in the same Economy class like myself! How can Ugandans abroad encourage their friends, NGOs as well as their host countries to support development in Uganda when on the other hand we have greedy parliamentarians abusing their the meagre resources. And one wonders why Gabonese decided to burn their parliament yesterday under the pretext of rigged/stolen elections... I am mad as hell...
