I am not a West Niler, but can be considered as a friend of West Nile :-) I lived in Arua for 3.5 years - establishing energy offices, mainstreaming energy into development plans and engaged in efficient cooking stoves, solar PV, electricity grid work and environmental conservation / tree planting. I wanted to make you aware of a press release by the Danish Embassy, who apparently are setting up a big operation to support the adaptive capacity of Northern Uganda to Climate Change (see attached). This gives me a lot of hope, as West Nile indeed was moving fast towards desertification - a very dramatic trend! I would be very happy if you could provide me with updates on the electricity situation in West Nile - a month after I left we had switched on Nyagak. I had by then already developed a concept note outlining needs for additional investments into power generation, especially in order to supplement during the dry season. I would now be happy if you could give me an overview about your experiences in regards to grid availability / power quality, I feel there are always options available to change things - be aware of the power of joint efforts!!! Apart from contributing to improving the environment, trees are a good investment for the long term - in retirement or for the next generation. Nice week.
