High CPU usage

I'm running the cygwin version of the latest CVS. When I download files over
LAN (600-800 KB/s) wget uses almost 100% CPU. Other programs like IE or
Windows SMB don't use nearly as much. I'm using --dot-style=mega to be sure
that it's not the display output that causes the heavy load.

Is the same problem present on other unixes or is it only a cygwin issue?
