one problem with the patch -- it doesn't work :)
it segfaults on me, probably because i forgot to check whether
the suffix of a file is a pointer to null. i'll have a look at
it later on today, though. (i really should be doing about 10
things _other_ than trowling through wget internals and bungling
up patches ...)
