I won't.  After a reasonable period of time, like two weeks, the
"translation-only" release would be released.  It would be the best
thing if new "translation-only" releases could be released whenever
enough new or updated translations accumulated.  In fact, these
releases needn't even be issued by the package maintainer himself!

But see above.  What I propose -- continuous translation releases --
cannot be matched by a prerelease process (unless the prerelease
process leaves the code in the deep freeze for ages).

We seem to have a misunderstanding: you seem to think that I expect
the impossible from the translators, whereas all I want is to
establish a process that would enable them to issue translations of a
well-defined release, *and have them used with that release*.  I
believe this hasn't been done before.

It's a shame that you're leaving.  I hope you will remain around to
guide your successors.
