Thanks.  I must admit that I'm a bit overwhelmed by this patch.
Several questions:

* Would you be willing to take a look at the sources of Wget 1.8 or,
  preferrably, the CVS sources?  Handling of hosts is a lot cleaner
  than it was in 1.7.

* Is all the additional configure magic really necessary?  Checking
  for all the different IPv6 stack types?  "inria kame linux toshiba
  v6d zeta"?

  I really don't want to complexify Wget with the support for ancient
  systems with buggy IPv6 implementations that noone bothers to use
  any more anyway.

* If the patch were applied, would you be willing to test changes made
  to Wget CVS source in the course of maintenance?  I don't have IPv6
  handy to test things, so I might need help.
