I have been running the following on Red Hat 7.3 and Mandrake 8.2 (wget 1.8.1):

  wget -m -w60 http://www.manchester.com -o log.txt

for some time with no problem.  Having upgraded to RH 8.0 & Mk 9.0 (wget 1.8.2), I now find that I am spanning external hosts.  I have read the documentation and I think this behaviour is not correct ie. host spanning should be off by default.  I have also seen in the mailing lists a report of someone seeing this with Debian.

I have tried some additional options (eg. -L) without success.  Also, I have reinstalled wget 1.8.1 in Mk 9.0, again with no change.

It seems that there has been some change in a dependency which is causing this.  Is this a bug?

Regards, Geoff
