I think I've now fixed this problem. However, `-p' still implies creating directory hierarchies, which is mildly annoying.
IMO `-p' should be reworked to function like Mozilla's "save web page, complete". I.e. it should save "foo.html" along with "foo_html_files" where all the link contents should reside. If no sublinks exist, the directory doesn't get created, which would be the typical case for FTP.
