Hi, Just tried out version 1.9.1 of WGET in Windows (using the "complete" download and thus updating the DLLs as well).
Before I was running version 1.8.3, which exhibits the same behaviour, and version 1.5.x, which didn't - on Windows 98SE- The behaviour is this: On each invokation of wget.exe, the first URL fails to download with the message "Error -1: No Data Received". After that, things work fine. This implies that by preference I use the "-i filename" option, and by now duplicate the first URL line as a matter of course. It doesn't actuallly matter if the URL exists, so I can put just about anything in there as the first one, just as long as it looks worthwhile to WGET so it tries to retrieve it. The score, by the way, is not 100% perfect: about one download in 50 or 200 or so actually goes through ;-) YES! I am not at all certain that this behaviour is a bug in WGET. It could be something in the SSL DLLs or in my environment - although I have used the 1.8.3 version from other systems in other networked environments and experienced pretty much the same phenomenon - I didn't check the percentage of successes, to be sure. Any ideas? Any questions? Oh yes, if this should be routed to a discussion forum, please cc me via email. I yet have to sit down and work out how that works (I'm sure it's easy, once I get to it ...) Thanks, Gerd
