hi folks
please, as i am a non subscribers, please reply CC to

i am a complete beginner in both debian and wget. I
tried to install it under my woody, but when i try to
install (first step in the installation instructions)
it i get this message:
debian:~/Desktop/wget-1.9# ./configure --prefix=$HOME

configuring for GNU Wget 1.9
checking build system type... i686-pc-linux-gnuoldld
checking host system type... i686-pc-linux-gnuoldld

checking for gcc... no
checking for cc... no

checking for cl... no
configure: error: no acceptable C compiler found in
$PATH
See `config.log' for more details.

Without knowing too much what i was doing, i have then
installed SDCC "a freeware, retargettable, optimizing
ANSI C compiler
that supports a growing list of processors including
the Intel mcs51 family, the Zilog z80 and the Maxim
ds390." but after that i got the same error msg.

I suppose that the following step in the installation
instructions (compilation) does'nt work because of
this previous problem: i have typed make in the
terminal but nothing happend

sorry to bother you with this very basic question and
thank you for ainy help you can give
