Maik, As you could see from http://www.mail-archive.com/wget%40sunsite.dk/msg06652.html and other postings, this problem will be fixed in the next release of the official version. If you need to download files larger than 2Gb now, get patched, unofficial version of wget from http://software.lpetrov.net/wget-LFS/
