I'm curious. You failed to mention: 1. Wget version
2. Host type and OS. 3. Wget command line used. a) Actual URL (best). b) Scheme used (FTP or HTTP or ???). c) Server used. 4. "wget -d" output. 5. What "stops" means. (Hangs, exits, explodes, ... ???) 6. Whether you can download the same file(s) with any browser or other program. 7. Whether you can download the same file(s) from a different client system (using any method). Regarding item 3, given the actual URL, someone else might be able to try it and see what happens, too. If security or other concerns prevent this, then that's one more hurdle.
