Thanks Jason. Actually, the code you speak of has already been removed in the current development version of Wget. In general, it's best to submit patches against the trunk version of Wget, as it may be significantly different from the latest official release. That version can be had via subversion; see http://www.gnu.org/software/wget/wgetdev.html#development .
